'Game of Thrones' Star Jason Momoa Is Aquaman in 'Batman v Superman' and 'Justice League'

Way back in December, we got word that Warner Bros. was in talks with former Game of Thrones star Jason Momoa for the movie that we're now calling Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. At the time, Momoa was rumored to be in the running for Martian Manhunter or Doomsday. Turns out Momoa will be playing a much more iconic member of the Justice League: Aquaman.

According to a Hitfix report, Momoa will make an appearance as Aquaman in Batman v Superman, with a much larger part to come in Justice League.

"I suspected that Lex Luthor would use the destruction as a way of making Superman look like a monster, and it sounds like that is indeed one of the major ideas that they're playing with in Dawn Of Justice," writes Hitfix's Drew McWeeny about the destruction Superman and Zod brought to Earth in Man of Steel.

"Someone else who's not particularly happy about what happened in that film is Aquaman. I'm not sure if that's the actual name they'll use or not, but what we're hearing is that he is not pleased about the World Engine and what it did to the Indian Ocean. He will not have a major role in the film, but he will make an appearance, and it definitely sets him up to return once [Zack Snyder] gets to Justice League."

Batman v Superman opens on May 6, 2016. Based on a report we got last week, the Justice League movie is due to hit theaters on May 2017. Interestingly, the rundown of Warner Bros.'s superhero movies didn't include an Aquaman solo movie. Shazam gets his own movie but not Aquaman?
