Donald Glover Is Finally Spider-Man
Donald Glover has already checked off writer, actor and rapper on his career to-do list — now he can check off Spider-Man. Years after the former Community star launched an online campaign (with Stan Lee's approval) to play Spider-Man in Sony's rebooted franchise, Glover finally gets his turn at the role.
While Andrew Garfield snagged the live-action part in the Amazing Spider-Man franchise, Glover will voice Miles Morales, Spider-Man in Marvel's Ultimate universe, in the Disney XD series Ultimate Spider-Man: Web Warriors.
"I don't think it's hit me necessarily yet how big of a deal that is. I'm very grateful for that, and it's cool to read the comic now," Glover told USA Today. "That's the great part about the Spider-Man costume: He can be anybody. … Spider-Man could be a girl. Spider-Man could be an old man. You don't know. So I just tried to be as me as possible, because you're always just going to bring it back to yourself when you watch the show."
Glover's episodes of Ultimate Spider-Man: Web Warriors will air next year.
