January Jones and Kristen Schaal Join Will Forte in LAST MAN ON EARTH

Will Forte may be the last man on Earth, but January Jones and Kristen Schaal will be there too. Entertainment Weekly reported on Monday that Mad Men's January Jones and Toy Story 3's Kristen Schaal had joined Last Man on Earth, the upcoming series starring Forte.

According to EW, Jones will play a character named Melissa and Schaal will play Carol Pilbasian, but "Fox declined to comment on Schaal and Jones's characters—likely in order to preserve the idea of Forte's character literally being the last man on earth, though portions of the story will be told through flashbacks."

Has EW considered that the show is called Last Man on Earth — not Last Person on Earth? Perhaps Forte is playing the last man alive, but there are still women alive too. This was the premise of the graphic novel Y: The Last Man. Despite that property having trouble becoming a movie, could Fox's Last Man on Earth be its spiritual TV counterpart?

Last Man on Earth premieres on Sunday, March 1, 2015.
