The POWER RANGERS Reboot Gets Pushed Back to January 2017
The Power Rangers reboot has morphed back a few months. Lionsgate shifted the movie's released date on Thursday, rescheduling it for Jan. 13, 2017. Power Rangers was originally supposed to hit theaters on July 22, 2016.
There hasn't been much concrete news on the Power Rangers reboot since it was announced. We know that the movie will maintain the continuity of the TV shows, that Jason David Frank (the original Green Ranger) is interested in playing a role, and that Earth to Echo director Dean Israelite is either on board to helm the movie or close to being on board.
Shifting a movie from a summer release to a January release is never a good sign though. A movie can be a blockbuster at any time of the year these days, but Lionsgate must not be feeling too confident about Power Rangers to make this shift so soon.
