JJ Abrams on STAR WARS: 'No, I’m Not Going to Direct EPISODE IX'
The mystery of who will direct Star Wars: Episode IX deepens. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly released on Wednesday, JJ Abrams confirmed that he will not be the man behind the camera for the final installment of the sequel trilogy.
"No, I'm not going to direct Episode IX, as much as I am deeply envious of anyone who gets to work with this group of people on the future movies," Abrams told EW when asked about the odds the Star Wars: The Force Awakens director will return.
There was a report back in March that Abrams would be back for Star Wars: Episode IX. Then again, we also got a report in July that Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow would be at the helm for Episode IX. These two rumors came from Latino-Review and Heroic Hollywood, both sites with dubious reputations for "scoops," so we should take any news from them with a grain of salt.
