New THE MARTIAN Pics Strand Matt Damon on Mars

Now that I've read The Martian, I feel like I have a license to tell people how awesome the book is and how everyone should be eagerly looking forward to the movie. So yeah, you should read the book ... and have The Martian's release date circled on your calendar.

Empire released two new images from The Martian on Tuesday. Both pics feature Matt Damon, with one pic being a behind-the-scenes image and the other being a still from the film.

The Martian opens on Oct. 2.
