'The Lego Movie' Directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller in Talks for 'Ghostbusters 3'?

They've already relaunched 21 Jump Street and turned Lego bricks into a blockbuster film — could bringing Ghostbusters back from the dead be next for Phil Lord and Chris Miller? According to former Deadline editor Nikki Finke, Lord and Miller are in talks to direct Ghostbusters 3.

With Ivan Reitman out of the running to direct the next Ghostbusters sequel, which Sony hopes to get into production in early 2015, the studio was forced to begin the search to find a new director.

If Finke is right and Lord and Miller are Sony's picks, Ghostbusters fan should be ecstatic. This sequel is going to happen whether or not they agree with it, but Lord and Miller have proven with Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, 21 Jump Street and The Lego Movie that they can adapt a property for the big screen while still showing respect for the source material.

Like with 21 Jump Street, expect Lord and Miller (or whoever ends up directing this movie) to use Ghostbusters 3 to launch a new string of Ghostbuster movies. Sony's not going to let a valuable property like this sit dormant for much longer.
