Looks Like Iron Patriot Won't Be in 'Iron Man 3' After All

After shots of a man in armor resembling Iron Patriot's hit the Internet last week, everyone began trying to figure out how Iron Patriot would fit into Iron Man 3. Iron Patriot was a suit worn by Norman Osborn, a Spider-Man villain that Marvel can't use in its Cinematic Universe. How would the Iron Patriot mesh with Iron Man 3's Extremis storyline?

Well, Latino Review is now reporting that the shots we saw last week are of a repainted War Machine not Iron Patriot. And the belief that it was James Badge Dale in the suit? Nope. Just a stunt guy filling in for Don Cheadle.

We’re getting this from someone on set who says what we’re all calling “Iron Patriot” is Don Cheadle’s new armor. For purposes of clarity, I’ll still be calling it War Machine, even if the movie decides to call him “Iron Patriot”  

The US Government has had their hands on this Stark suit for awhile, and apparently they’ve decided to make it more patriotic (especially with the nano-technology stuff I hear is going down in China these days, it’s important for America to look good, not like ‘Iron Man 2′s’ bulky grey War Machine).

Well then, I guess that settles that. It's an interesting take on War Machine ... we'll have to wait to see how it works out.
