'The Biggest Loser' Is Bringing Back a Former Trainer (and It's Not Anna Kournikova) for Its 14th Season

To anyone who was a fan of the Anna Kournikova era on The Biggest Loser, sorry to break it to you — the show plans on bringing back a former trainer for its fourteenth season, but Kournikova isn't that trainer. Jillian Michaels (who's arguably the most effective trainer on the show?) will return to The Biggest Loser after a two-year absence. Kournikova replaced Michaels for Season 12, but didn't make it to a second season. Like a great deal of males my age, I was a big Anna Kournikova fan, but there's no way I can say she was a good Biggest Loser trainer. In fact, she was downright awful. Sorry, Anna.

Deadline reports that Michaels' return will also be accompanied by a retooling of the show that will bring the topic of childhood obesity into the spotlight. Child participants won't be up for elimination, but they will be there to compete and take part in team activities.

Besides using this news as an excuse to post a picture of Kournikova on the site, I really do respect what The Biggest Loser does. I stopped watching it last season, only because I didn't have the time to devote to a show with a two-hour runtime. One of the things that pushed me to start working out and lose a bunch of weight a few years ago was the revelation that if the contestants on The Biggest Loser could lose hundreds of pounds while dealing with serious health issues, I could drop thirty pounds while in my early 20s.
