Popculturology Thanks Everyone for a Great 2012 and Shares Some 2013 Plans

It was quite a year for Popculturology. When 2012 began, we weren't even Popculturology. We were still The Bill Kuchman Chronicle, with a few months as The Bill Kuchman Blog thrown in there. The site was quiet during the early months of the year, but things got going in March after the Oscars had wrapped up. From that point on, Popculturology hasn't stopped growing, covering all aspects of pop culture. Saturday Night Live recaps? Box office results? Week-by-week Oscar race updates? Kate Upton videos? We brought it all to you.

When the switch to Popculturology was flipped in November, the site added Seth Pohorence as our first contributing writer. Scott Pukos and Anton Ali came aboard a few weeks later, and together we brought you The Top 10 Christmas Movies and Specials.

Popculturology has big plans for 2013.

Podcasts
Do we know how to put together a podcast with contributors in different states and cities? Nope. Will that stop us from figuring out how? Never. Launching a Popculturology Podcast is our big goal for 2013. We want to turn our casual conversations about movies, television and whatever other random things happened during the week into something entertaining.

Oscar coverage
If there's one thing Popculturology has built its foundation on, it's the Oscars. With the Academy Awards less than two months away, we're going to deliver everything you need to win your office Oscar pool. Unless you're in our office Oscar pool. In that case, you're not allowed to look at anything.

More commentary
Like Seth's pieces on Chevy Chase and whether or not Skyfall deserved to be called the best James Bond film, our commentary pieces add unique voices to Popculturology. In 2013, Popculturology will bring you multiple commentary pieces a week.

Female voices
We dropped the ball when it came to Magic Mike coverage. Sorry, Channing Tatum fans. One of our goals for the new year is to add a female contributing writer, since, let's be honest here, Popculturology is pretty dude heavy. We may love those Kate Upton videos, but we're letting down our readers who might want to see ... Tom Cruise videos? Burt Reynolds? See, this is the problem.

Popculturology.com
Yes, it's still confusing that the site has been rebranded but we're still using billkuchman.com. Changing the domain name isn't a simple thing. We're the No. 1 source for information about the actress who isn't Alyson Hannigan in the Wendy's commercials on Google. Changing the domain name too quickly could ruin that. It's going to be a gradual process.

Here's our promise to you: You keep reading Popculturology and talking to us on Twitter in 2013, and we'll keep working hard to be your top source for pop culture news. Let us know what we're doing what right and what we can do better.
