TRAILER: 'G.I. Joe: Retaliation' Returns with More Channing Tatum

When Paramount began plotting out the sequel to 2009's G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra, the studio was working in a world where Channing Tatum was just another interchangeable actor. By the time the studio was ready to release G.I. Joe: Retaliation, Tatum was a star, delivering hits with 21 Jump Street, The Vow and, soon after, Magic Mike. Unfortunately, Tatum's G.I. Joe character was set to be killed off early on in the new movie, wiping out the original installment's cast and handing the franchise over to The Rock and Bruce Willis.

Roughly a month before G.I. Joe: Retaliation was scheduled to hit theaters, Paramount made the announcement that they were moving the film from its original June 29, 2012, release date to March 29, 2012, giving the excuse that they needed the time to convert the movie to 3D. Mmhmm. Not like the studio went back to do reshoots in order to not only give Tatum a bigger role in the move but also unkill him.

G.I. Joe: Retaliation is back on track now, and with the new-and-improved version (now with more Tatum!) heading into theaters in just a few months, Paramount has restarted the marketing machine for the movie, releasing a new trailer on Wednesday. The footage appears to be pretty much scenes that we've seen in previous trailers, but it does look like Tatum is featured a bit more. In addition to Tatum, The Rock and Willis, Adrianne Palicki and Ray Park also star in G.I. Joe: Retaliation. Check out the trailer after the jump.
