Steve Carell Won't Return to 'The Office' for the Show's Series Finale?

Despite Mindy Kaling possibly spoiling that Steve Carell stopped by The Office to appear in one of the show's final episodes, NBC Entertainment Robert Greenblatt denied on Sunday that the show's former star will have a cameo. According to a Deadline report, Greenblatt told the Television Critic's Association that there's little chance that Carell would return to the show that made him a star.
“We’re hopeful but I don’t think (Carell) will,” Greenblatt said after the NBC executive session. “He left in the way he wanted to leave, and he and Greg talked about it, and I don’t think he will. There’s maybe a little Hail Mary pass on a cameo, but I think the decision would be compromising his schedule.”
I don't know if I completely believe Greenblatt on this one. Yes, odds are Carell is a very busy guy. He probably doesn't have time to make an appearance on The Office. But then there's the sentimental side of this. The Office is Carell's show. After last season, it was absolutely apparent that the show would never be the same without him. To properly close the series out, The Office needs one last bit of Michael Scott.
