Ben Affleck Wins Another Big Director Award Despite Oscar Snub
On Saturday night, Ben Affleck was declared the best director of 2012, taking home the Directors Guild of America's award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Motion Pictures. This adds to the countless other honors that Affleck and his film, Argo, have taken home since the Academy Awards were announced.
The nominations announcements, where Affleck wasn't includes among the Oscar nominees for Best Director, now appear to be a turning point in the race, with Affleck and Argo taking home every possible award after that point. Argo's recent momentum makes it the favorite to take home Best Picture in three weeks.
Is it too late to get a recount on those Oscar nominations ballots? It's still bizarre that Affleck is taking home best director honors left and right, but the Academy think he was the sixth most-deserving director in 2012 at best?
