'The Amazing Spider-Man 2' to Shoot Scenes in Rochester, New York

Will Spider-Man fans get to see their favorite webslinger scarf down a garbage plate before heading off to save the world from the latest supervillain threat? New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced on Wednesday that The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will become the largest film production in the state's history, bringing in 3,500 jobs and casting 11,000 extras.

With the Popculturology staff having Rochester, N.Y., roots, the kicker in this news is that The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will spend 10 to 15 days shooting in Rochester. While Cuomo's press release didn't mention what the production will be shooting in the city, a Wall Street Journal article that published on Tuesday reported that "Spiderman will go to Rochester to film a chase scene because speed laws upstate aren't as restrictive as New York City's."

I can't wait to see what Rochester landmarks show up masquerading as New York City in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. What are the odds we get a shot of Andrew Garfield's Peter Parker and Emma Stone's Gwen Stacy swinging by Wegmans to pick up a case of WPOP?

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 hits theaters on May 2, 2014. In addition to Garfield and Stone, the movie stars Jamie Foxx, Shailene Woodley, Dane DeHaan, Paul Giamatti, Chris Cooper, Sally Field and Felicity Jones.
