Dan Harmon Confirms He's Close to Returning to 'Community'

On Friday, Dan Harmon took to Twitter to confirm that he was closing a deal to return to Community.
Returning to Community, Day One: Hiring of directors hindered by an apparent promise from Sony to Jason Alexander. My deal: not yet closed.
After Sony and NBC fired Harmon before Community's fourth season, the show gave fans an uneven season that just never felt right. NBC picked up Community for a fifth and presumably final season in May, but with Season 4 showrunners David Guarascio and Moses Port gone, Community was without a showrunner.

Bringing Harmon back would go a long way toward restoring fans' faith in Community, but it looks like Harmon and NBC still have a few obstacles to clear before that happens. "Hiring of directors hindered by an apparent promise from Sony to Jason Alexander"? Is Harmon saying that Sony told Alexander, who had a role in Community's puppet episode, that he could direct a future episode?

UPDATE: Harmon followed up that tweet with this one:
Sorry about that. There must have been a miscommunication. Season 5 will be directed by whoever the fuck. Sorry! Sorry!
So ... this means Harmon can hire whoever he wants to direct?
