'I'm Back I'm Back I'm Back': Dan Harmon Returns to 'Community' as Showrunner
After teasing his possible return to Community on Friday, Dan Harmon took to Twitter to confirm that he would be returning to the show he created for its fifth and presumably final season.
RT @dpeanutbutter: @danharmon GIVE US A STRAIGHT ANSWER! ~ Yes yes yes! I'm back I'm back I'm back. You can thank @joelmchale.Harmon had spent the past few hours before that tweeting references to his possible return to Community, giving shoutouts to the cast and crew and even joking, "Does anyone know any talented writers that haven't been hired by Parks and Rec? I'm staffing for a friend."
While Harmon hasn't said what his job will be now (he was offered a consulting role for the fourth season, which he turned down), The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that not only is he formalizing a deal to return as showrunner but also that former writer and producer Chris McKenna is too.
With Harmon back in charge of Community, what does that mean for the upcoming season? Will Harmon pickup where the show left off after its very un-Harmonesque fourth season? Or will Harmon find a way to wipe out last season? Popculturology's Seth Pohorence brought up the idea that Harmon could give Season 4 the Dallas treatment, with Abed waking up to discover that the last year had been a dream.
