Goodbye, Stefon: Bill Hader Leaving 'Saturday Night Live'
Whoa. Didn't see this one coming. On Tuesday, Bill Hader told The New York Times that this upcoming weekend's episode of Saturday Night Live would be his last.
“It was a hard decision, but it has to happen at some point,” Mr. Hader said in an interview. “It got to a point where I said, ‘Maybe it’s just time to go.’ ”
Wow. Just wow. This is a huge blow to SNL. Since 2005, Hader has been the show's go-to guy for celebrity impressions and game show hosts. He's Stefon. Let that sink in for a second. After this Saturday, we may never see Stefon again.
Hader joins head writer and Weekend Update host Seth Meyers among the show's departures after this season. The New York Times also says that Fred Armisen and Jason Sudeikis are weighing their futures with SNL too.
