Jimmy Fallon's 'The Tonight Show' and Seth Meyers' 'Late Night' Set to Debut on Feb. 24
At NBC's upfront presentation on Monday, the network revealed the dates for its upcoming late-night shuffle. With the Sochi Winter Olympics beginning on Feb. 6, 2014, NBC will use the event to separate the Jay Leno and Jimmy Fallon eras on The Tonight Show. Leno's last week at The Tonight Show desk will be the week prior to the Olympics, and The Tonight Show will return with Fallon as host on Feb. 24.
In addition to Fallon beginning his time as Tonight Show host on Feb. 24, Seth Meyers will kick off his version of Late Night the same night. While it seems like much of Fallon's version of Late Night will move over to The Tonight Show (still in New York City, the Roots, the studio), Meyers' iteration of Late Night is still a mystery. In talking to The Huffington Post, Meyers did reveal that he would like to keep some of the Weekend Update vibe going at Late Night, saying, "My favorite thing about Weekend Update is anytime crazy lunatics come out and try and talk to me. I'd like to keep that alive and well on Late Night."
