'Jurassic Park IV' on Hold as Universal Seeks to 'Bring Audiences Best Possible Version' of the Movie

Sorry, Jurassic Park fans, but it looks like you're going to have to wait a bit longer before you can see a new batch of dinosaurs. On Wednesday, Universal announced that Jurassic Park IV would be put on hold. The studio had originally set June 13, 2014, as the movie's release date with Safety Not Guaranteed director Colin Trevorrow at the helm. From Universal:
"In coordination with filmmakers, Universal has decided to release Jurassic Park 4 at a later date giving the studio and filmmakers adequate time to bring audiences the best possible version of the fourth installment in Universal’s beloved franchise."
While it's disappointing to see a franchise film like this get put on hold, it is encouraging to know that Universal, Trevorrow and producer Frank Marshall are willing to put on the breaks if it means creating a superior version of Jurassic Park IV. All too often, movies are rushed to hit release dates, causing quality to suffer. No new release date has been set for the fourth Jurassic Park movie.
