REPORT: Community Renewal 'All But a Done Deal'
Community hasn't received a fifth-season pickup from NBC yet, but according to a Vulture report, the network is "very close to ordering a fifth season." For a show that many assumed would be dead after this current season, Vulture's news is kind of shocking. When NBC fired Dan Harmon and brought in a new team to run Community, it looked like Season 5 would be it.
Vulture notes that "there's still discussion going on about the exact number of episodes." Community's fifth season was only 13 episodes, but with the series currently at 84 episodes, NBC would be smart to give Community at least 16 episodes to push it over the 100-episode mark, which is usually the magic number for syndication.
NBC has already renewed Parenthood, Parks and Recreation and Revolution and canceled 1600 Penn, Go On, Guys With Kids, Rock Center With Brian Williams, Up All Night and Whitney.
