Carey Mulligan WON'T Be Hillary Clinton in 'Rodham'

Damn it, I though Popculturology had called this one. When news broke last week that Carey Mulligan was being courted to play Hillary Clinton in Rodham, it looked like Popculturology had predicted a pretty big piece of casting news. While everyone else was clamoring over the dumb ideas of Reese Witherspoon or even Meryl Streep playing Clinton, we calmly suggested five actresses in their 20s who could carry a role of this magnitude, with Rodham screenwriter Young Il Kim even calling this list "great choices." Mulligan was one of the names on our list.

Unfortunately, The Hollywood Reporter is now reporting that despite being offered the role by Rodham director James Ponsoldt, Mulligan "was not prepared to commit to the role at this time." Well, let's regroup and move on, right?

The Hollywood Reporter goes on to say that Scarlett Johansson, Jessica Chastain and Emma Stone are still being discussed for the role. I'm not sure who's doing this discussing, as Chastain herself debunked the rumor involving herself at the beginning of June. When it comes to Popculturology's list, we still have Jennifer Lawrence, Rooney Mara, Emma Watson and Emily Blunt in play.
