1927: The Cyclone roller coaster opens on Coney Island.
1963: President John F. Kennedy gives his Ich bin ein Berliner speech. Americans no longer fear a Nazi uprising.
1974: The Universal Product Code (UPC) is used for the first time. A pack of Wrigley's gum was purchased at a supermarket in Troy, Ohio. No word on whether it was Juicy Fruit or Double Mint.
