FIRST LOOK: Meet the 'Frozen' Characters Voiced by Kristen Bell, Josh Gad, Idina Menzel and More
With the success of last year's Wreck-It Ralph, I had high hopes that Disney had found its new groove. After years of struggling to keep up with Pixar, the iconic studio was finally putting together a good run of animated films. Ideally, I would've loved to have seen Disney working in hand-drawn animation again, but movies with strong characters and original storylines was progress enough.
The studio's next animated offering is Frozen, a retelling of Hans Christian Anderson's The Snow Queen. While much of what we've seen from Frozen hints at a solid movie, Disney chose to introduce the general moviegoing public to the movie with a teaser trailer that carried itself way too much like those Scrat trailers we see over and over again for the Ice Age movies. Not good.
On Thursday, Disney set to work reintroducing the world to Frozen, unveiling a series of character banners through Yahoo! Movies. We don't quite know all these characters yet, but we now have an idea of what they look like. I'm especially curious to see what Marshmallow, the "enormous icy snowman born from Elsa's powers," turns out like. He instantly reminded me of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer's Bumble, which (unlike Ice Age's Scrat) is a comparison you want people making.
Frozen stars the voice talent of Kristen Bell, Josh Gad, Idina Menzel and Jonathan Groff. The movie opens on Nov. 27. Head past the jump to check out the full series of character stills.
