Emilia Clarke and Brie Larson on Shortlist to Play Sarah Connor in 'Terminator' Reboot

Emilia Clarke already plays the Mother of Dragons — could she possibly be the mother of John Connor too? According to a Deadline report on Wednesday, the Game of Thrones actor and Brie Larson are on the shortlist to play the character.

Deadline reports that Clarke has the edge currently, citing the fact that Terminator 5 director Alan Taylor previously worked together on Game of Thrones. If she gets the role, the absence of Daenerys Targaryen's signature blond hair is going to throw fans off.

While Clarke is known by anyone who watches Game of Thrones, Larson doesn't have one role that people know her for yet, having small roles in a bunch of movies and TV shows including Community, 21 Jump Street, The League, Don Jon and The Spectacular Now. She's also garnering awards season buzz from Short Term 12.

Sarah Connor was most famously portrayed by Linda Hamilton in Terminator and Terminator 2: Judgement Day. Coincidentally, Clarke's Game of Thrones costar Lena Headley played Connor in the TV show The Sarah Connor Chronicles.
