Golden Globe Nominations: '12 Years a Slave' and 'American Hustle' Each Get 7 Nominations
The nominees for the 2014 Golden Globes were announced on Thursday morning. The annual awards handed out by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association honor both film and television.
12 Years a Slave and American Hustle lead the way on the film side with seven nominations a piece. David O. Russell's American Hustle snagged nominations in all four available acting categories. The director's Silver Linings Playbook accomplished that same feat at the previous Oscars. Can American Hustle do the same when Oscar nominations are announced on Jan. 16, 2014?
On the heels of yesterday's Screen Actors Guild Awards nominations, we can now start to see some trends emerging. Like SAG, HFPA gave Best Supporting Actor noms to Captain Phillips' Barkhad Abdi and Rush's Daniel Bruhl. Philomena has also seemed to solidify as a real player for awards season.
Over on the TV side, the Golden Globes were especially friendly to Netflix's growing stable of programming. House of Cards, Arrested Development and Orange Is the New Black all received nominations.
The Golden Globes will be held on Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014. Tina Fey and Amy Poehler return as hosts.
