'Terminator: Genesis' Eyes 'Zero Dark Thirty' Star Jason Clarke for John Connor; Studio Yet to Decide Between Emilia Clarke and Brie Larson for Sarah Connor

The Terminator reboot may have found its John Connor. Zero Dark Thirty star Jason Clarke is in talks to play the future savior of humanity, according to a TheWrap report on Wednesday. If casted, Jason Clarke will follow in the footsteps of Edward Furlong, Nick Stahl and Christian Bale. (That's a weird collection of actors.)

According to TheWrap, Terminator: Genesis director Alan Taylor originally wanted Tom Hardy for Connor, but Hardy's schedule was already filled with Mad Max: Fury Road and the Elton John biopic.

TheWrap's report also noted that a decision still has to be made for casting Sarah Connor, with Emilia Clarke and Brie Larson the two finalists. It sounds like Taylor wants to go with Emilia Clarke, who he previously directed on Game of Thrones, while Paramount would like to see Larson in the role.

How will Terminator: Genesis bring these versions of John and Sarah Connor together? In the first two Terminator movies, Sarah was logically older than her son. Jason Clarke is 44 while Emilia Clarke is 26 and Larson is 24. Sarah is younger than her son now? I bet there's time travel in this movie. Call it a hunch.
