BOX OFFICE REPORT (JAN. 24-26): Kevin Hart and 'Ride Along' Stay No. 1; 'Frozen' Sets Another Record

1. Ride Along (1st)
Weekend gross: $21.2 million / Total domestic gross: $75.4 million /
Percent drop: 49.0
Kevin Hart is a box office star now. Ride Along took the top spot at the box office for the second weekend in a row, almost doubling the gross of its closest competition and putting the movie a week or two away from cracking the $100 million mark. Hart's busy 2014 has only just begun too. He stars in About Last Night, which opens on Feb. 14; and Think Like a Man Too, which opens on June 20.

2. Lone Survivor (2nd)
Weekend gross: $12.6 million / Total domestic gross: $93.6 million /
Percent drop: 42.9
Mark Wahlberg's Lone Survivor should pass $100 million itself over the next week, cementing its place as one of the most successful post-Sept. 11 war movies. That said, despite murmurings of award season accolades, Lone Survivor failed to score any Oscar nominations.

3. The Nut Job (3rd)
Weekend gross: $12.3 million / Total domestic gross: $40.3 million /
Percent drop: 36.6
When does Disney/Pixar finally get around to suing the makers of The Nut Job for blatantly ripping off the design of Ratatouille's Remy? Are they lulling them into a false sense of security with a plan to swoop in and ruin the plans for a Nut Job sequel?

4. Frozen (5th)
Weekend gross: $9.0 million / Total domestic gross: $347.8 million /
Percent drop: 23.2
Having already conquered a bunch of Disney Animation Studios records, Frozen set some global box office history this past weekend. Its worldwide gross of $810.3 million passed Finding Nemo's original box office run gross to become the all-time highest grossing animated movie in world history. World history.

Something to consider: The Nut Job grosses a whopping $40.3 million and scores an impressive 12 percent on Rotten Tomatoes and Open Road announces a sequel. Frozen has a historic box office performance, scores an 89 percent on Rotten Tomatoes and is the favorite to win the Oscar for Best Animated Feature and there's not even a whisper of a sequel from Disney and Pixar. Quality over quantity, folks.

5. Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit (4th)
Weekend gross: $8.8 million / Total domestic gross: $30.2 million /
Percent drop: 43.0
It appears that Chris Pine's career is only going as far as the Star Trek films. The latest attempt to turn Pine into a movie star is not going well.

Next week's predictions
1. Ride Along
2. That Awkward Moment
3. Lone Survivor
4. Frozen
5. Labor Day
