CREED Director Ryan Coogler in Talks to Helm BLACK PANTHER

Ryan Coogler is on the verge of becoming the first black director in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. According to Birth. Movies. Death., the director is in talks to helm Black Panther. If this deal works out, Coogler will direct Chadwick Boseman in the February 2018 film.

Black Panther would be the latest film in Coogler's young and very successful career. The director burst onto the scene with 2013's Fruitvale Station and has continued to earn rave reviews with Creed. When I pulled up Coogler's Wikipedia page to get some background info on him, I learned that he's just 29 years old. Now I feel old. And unsuccessful.

Coogler will inherit a character who makes his debut in next year's Captain America: Civil War. You can get a glimpse of Black Panther in the new Civil War trailer.
