2,500 Actors Are in the Running to Play Han Solo in STAR WARS Spinoff

If you're a male actor between the ages of 18 and 32, you're probably in the running to play Han Solo in the character's upcoming standalone movie. The Hollywood Reporter broke the news earlier this week that Disney and Lucasfilm have either met with or received audition tapes from more than 2,500 actors.

Directors Chris Miller and Phil Lord will helm the untitled Han Solo Star Wars standalone movie, which is scheduled to open on May 25, 2018. The duo is working to narrow the search for the man who will follow in Harrison Ford's footsteps.

THR has a pretty exhaustive list of actors who have thrown their blaster into the ring for this coveted role, including Dave Franco (who the directors worked with on the Jump Street movies), Aaron Taylor-Johnson (no stranger to the Disney machine thanks to Avengers: Age of Ultron), Nick Robinson, Leo Howard, Tony Oller, Chandler Riggs (only if Andrew Lincoln gets to play his dad), Hunter Parrish, Rami Malek, Landon Liboiron, Ed Westwick, Tom Felton, Joshua Sasse, Logan Lerman, Ansel Elgort, Jack Reynor, Colton Haynes and Max Thieriot.

Whoever scores this role is going to be under a ton of scrutiny. This isn't like becoming the next actor in a (growing) line of actors who have played Spider-Man. Harrison Ford is Han Solo. Lucasfilm hit a home run when it cast Ewan McGregor to carry the mantle of Obi-Wan Kenobi. Can they do it again with Han Solo?
