'Use the Name, It's Yours': Rocky Trains the Next Generation in New CREED Trailer

The two Creed trailers are masterclasses in how to make a trailer. Like the first trailer for the upcoming Rocky spinoff, this new one mixes elements of Sylvester Stallone's classic films with the newness of Michael B. Jordan's new take on the franchise.



Yes, the cues to the original Rocky movies and the idea that Rocky Balboa is sick are easy way to tug at our heartstrings, but director Ryan Coogler appears to have found just the right balance based on these trailers. When Coogler and Jordan worked together on Fruitvale Station, we got a film and a performance that many thought should have been in the Oscar mix. It looks like the duo is giving us a Rocky spinoff that's way better than a Rocky spinoff should be.

Looks like Creed is going to easily wash away the stink that Fantastic Four left on Jordan's career resumé.

Creed stars Jordan, Stallone, Tessa Thompson, Phylicia Rashad and Tony Bellew. The movie is set to open on Nov. 25.
