REPORT: Gugu Mbatha-Raw Joins STAR WARS: EPISODE VIII

Star Wars has a good feeling about Gugu Mbatha-Raw. According to Collider, the actress is on the verge of joining the cast of Star Wars: Episode VIII.

Mbatha-Raw recently joined the Star Wars rumor mill, with her name being tossed in the mix alongside Tatiana Maslany, Gina Rodriguez and Olivia Cooke for two major female lead roles in the upcoming sequel. We've been able to assume that both Cooke and Maslany aren't in the running at this point, as the actresses have taken parts in other major films.

If Mbatha-Raw does join Star Wars: Episode VIII, it could be for a very major role. (SPOILERS: She could be Han Solo's daughter.) After appearing in films like Belle and Beyond the Lights and TV shows like Undercovers and Touch, Episode VIII would make the British actress a household name.

Star Wars: Episode VIII opens on May 26, 2017. Looper director Rian Johnson is at the helm. Star Wars: The Force Awakens stars Daisy Ridley, John Boyega and Oscar Isaac are all expected to return and will be joined by Benicio del Toro.
