Woody Harrelson Joins WAR OF THE PLANET OF THE PLANET OF THE APES as Its Villain

In the next Planet of the Apes sequel, Caesar will be threatened by a new challenge: Woody Harrelson. The actor has joined War of the Planet of the Apes as the movie's villain, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Harrelson has been all over the place the past few years, from HBO's True Detective to the blockbuster Hunger Games movies. He had a fearsome turn as a villain in 2013's Out of the Furnace too, something that probably convince Fox and director Matt Reeves to cast Harrelson as the villain in the sequel to Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. THR reports that Harrelson's character will be called the Colonel.

War of the Planet of the Apes is set to hit theaters on July 14, 2017. The movie will likely see Caesar leading apekind against humanity's last military stand. Harrelson joins Gabriel Chavarria in what's probably going to be an all-new human cast, as stars like Jason Clarke have confirmed that they won't be back for this movie.

After THR broke the news, the official Planet of the Apes Twitter account confirmed the news that Harrelson has joined War of the Planet of the Apes.
