Marvel Announces Dates for Five More Marvel Cinematic Universe Movies Through 2019

Marvel Studios announced release dates for five more films on Friday night, setting up next weekend's Comic-Con appearance for hopefully even bigger announcements.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has continued to grow every year since it began in 2008 with Marvel's "Iron Man," and now we've got the dates for five more films coming your way through 2019!

While we can't tell you just what they are yet, you can look forward to new films hitting theaters July 28 and November 3, 2017; July 6 and November 2, 2018; and May 3, 2019.

Stay tuned to Marvel.com for the latest on the ever-expanding Marvel Cinematic Universe, True Believers--you won't want to miss a moment of it!

OK, so these five films will most likely all be Phase Three installments. We already know that Phase Three kicks off with Ant-Man on July 17, 2015, and continues with Captain America 3 on May 6, 2016.

So what does that mean for these five unnamed movies?

Based on the previous May release dates for The Avengers and Avengers: Age of Ultron, we can expect to see The Avengers 3 on May 3, 2019 — three years after Age of Ultron. (UPDATE: Totally screwed up the math here. Age of Ultron comes out in 2015, not 2016.) Marvel Studios already has a director in place for Doctor Strange, so let's add that to Phase Three. For the remaining three movies, let's assume there's a Thor sequel and a Guardians of the Galaxy sequel (that will possibly have the Hulk in it). Candidates for that final spot include Black Panther, a Black Widow movie and even a Ms. Marvel film.

Hopefully we'll find out soon what movies will be released on these dates when Marvel Studios presents at Comic-Con next week.
