The POWER RANGERS Movie Reboot Has Found Its Director
The Power Rangers reboot has found its director — and he comes with a much more family friend reputation than that Power/Rangers fan film that hit the Internet recently. According to TheWrap, Project Almanac director Dean Israelite is in talks to direct Power Rangers for Lionsgate and Saban Brands.
Project Almanac is the only movie on Israelite's résumé, but TheWrap reports that the director is "a huge fan of the franchise and aims to bring a fresh voice to the property" and he's apparently been courted for for other tentpole movies including Marvel Studios' Doctor Strange.
Power Rangers is set for a July 22, 2016, release. No cast has been announced yet, but we've heard that the new movie will exist in the same universe as the original series. Jason David Frank, the original Green/White Ranger, has been talking about having a role in the Power Rangers movie too.
