Vin Diesel Announces FAST AND FURIOUS 8 Coming April 2017
It doesn't have a cool title yet, but the eighth Fast and Furious movie is on the way. Vin Diesel appeared during Universal Pictures' CinemaCon presentation on Thursday to announce that Fast and Furious 8 would hit theaters on April 14, 2017.
Another Fast and Furious movie isn't a shocker. Furious 7 has already grossed over $300 million at the domestic box office and has passed $1.1 million worldwide. Both numbers are by far records for the franchise.
Now that Fast and Furious 8 has a release date, Universal can start making the movie. It was reported earlier in April that the studio hadn't really made much progress on the sequel. The movie doesn't have a script, director or stars under contract. Apparently that's status quo for the Fast and Furious movies — figure out some cool action scenes and then cobble a plot around them.
