Chris Pine in Talks to Play Steve Trevor in WONDER WOMAN

As Captain Kirk in the Star Trek series, Chris Pine is usually the guy at the helm of the USS Enterprise. In his next big role, though, he might be riding shotgun in an invisible jet. Variety reported on Wednesday that Pine is in talks to join Wonder Woman as Steve Trevor.

In the Wonder Woman mythology, Steve Trevor is the love interest of the heroine and was introduced in the early 1940s. The character was originally an Army intelligence officer who stumbled upon the home of the Amazons.

Beyond the Star Trek movies, Pine has never really broken into a bigger level of stardom. He lead the 2014 Jack Ryan relaunch, but Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit only mustered up $50.6 million at the domestic box office.

Pine will star alongside Gal Gadot, who will debut as Wonder Woman in 2016's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Wonder Woman will be directed by Patty Jenkins, who took over after Michelle MacLaren left the project. The movie is set to open on June 23, 2017.
