Martin Freeman Joins CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIIL WAR

Martin Freeman already proved his heroism as Bilbo Baggins in The Hobbit Trilogy — will he do the same in the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Marvel Studios announced on Tuesday that the actor had joined the sprawling cast of Captain America: Civil War.

"From his roles as Bilbo Baggins and Doctor Watson to Tim in The Office, Martin's range from the dramatic to the comedic has consistently impressed us," Marvel's Kevin Feige said in a statement. "We couldn't be more honored or excited to have such a talented actor join the Marvel Cinematic Universe."

Marvel didn't say who Freeman will be playing in Captain America: Civil War. The movie already has a busy cast: Chris Evans as Captain America, Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes, Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson, Frank Grillo as Crossbones, Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff and Daniel Bruhl as Baron Helmut Zemo. Oh, and there's gonna be a Spider-Man cameo.

Will Freeman's role turn into something bigger in the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Fans of Sherlock and The Hobbit Trilogy have already seen Freeman alongside Benedict Cumberbatch, the star of Doctor Strange. Will the two star in yet another franchise together?
