EX MACHINA Star Alicia Vikander Set to Join BOURNE 5
The cast for the next Bourne movie continues to take shape. Deadline reported on Tuesday that Ex Machina star Alicia Vikander is set to join Bourne 5. According to the site, Vikander chose the Matt Damon flick over taking a role in Assassin's Creed adaption that will star Michael Fassbender.
Vikander has exploded onto the scene over the past few months, starring in the acclaimed Ex Machine (which I sadly missed after the film played for just a few weeks at the theater across from my apartment) and having roles in the upcoming The Man From UNCLE, The Danish Girl, Adam Jones and The Light Between the Oceans. Whew. Quite the film slate for an actress that started the year by starring in the panned The Seventh Son.
The actress will join Damon as he returns to the franchise he made famous. Paul Greengrass, who directed Damon in The Bourne Supremacy and The Bourne Ultimatum, is returning to direct. Previous Bourne star Julia Stiles will also be back, with Viggo Mortensen possibly coming aboard to play the movie's villain.
The untitled Bourne sequel is set to hit theaters on July 29, 2016.
