LEGO and Marvel Team Up for CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR Sets
The upcoming battle between Captain America and Iron Man will play out on minifigure scale. Variety reported on Wednesday that LEGO and Marvel Studios were partnering to create sets based on the upcoming Captain America: Civil War.
This is a big deal for fans of the LEGO Marvel Superheroes line. While the two Avengers movies got their own themes, Iron Man 3 and Guardians of the Galaxy are the only other Marvel Cinematic Universe films to get a wave of LEGO sets. (This summer's Ant-Man gets a single set.) Beyond his presence in The Avengers and Avengers: Age of Ultron sets, Captain America has made LEGO appearances based on his comic book look, not the more recent Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
It's not surprising that Marvel is going to license Captain America: Civl War like crazy. In addition to Captain America and Iron Man, the movie will feature Black Widow, the Winter Soldier, Falcon, the Vision, Scarlet Witch, War Machine, Hawkeye, Ant-Man, the introduction of Black Panther and a Spider-Man cameo. Who wouldn't want minifigs of all those characters?
Captain America: The Winter Soldier opens on May 6, 2016. According to Variety, we'll see LEGO sets based on the movie about eight weeks before its release.
