Freida Pinto Joins THE MINDY PROJECT for Its Season 4 Premiere

Freida Pinto has joined The Mindy Project for the show's Hulu debut. Entertainment Weekly reported on Monday that the Rise of the Planet of the Apes actress will play a version of herself married to Danny in the season premiere.

As EW points out, Danny hasn't broken up with Mindy — it's all part of how Season 4 will begin with an alternate reality where Mindy is dating a Bravo producer played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

The Mindy Project is also adding Garret Dillahunt in a recurring role. According to Deadline, Dillahunt will play Jody, "a new doctor who replaces Mindy while she goes on maternity leave. Jody is a charming southern gentleman with extremely traditional values who thinks that Mindy is a tacky idiot." With Adam Pally gone, The Mindy Project needed a new actor to stir things up with the show's full-time cast.

Dillahunt confirmed his casting on Monday night.

The next season of The Mindy Project doesn't have a premiere date, but it'll make its Hulu debut at some point this year. The streaming service picked the show up with a 26-episode order.
