Jake Gyllenhaal Eyes Boston Marathon Bombing Film STRONGER
On the heels of Nightcrawler and Southpaw, Jake Gyllenhaal's quest to win an Oscar may continue by bringing the story of the Boston Marathon bombing to the big screen. Variety reported on Wednesday that Gyllenhaal is eyeing Stronger, which will tell the story of Jeff Bauman. Bauman lost both of his legs while he was a spectator at the marathon.
Stronger will be directed by David Gordon Green, who helmed comedies like Pineapple Express, The Sitter and Your Highness along with episodes of Eastbound & Down. Green started his career directing dramas, so he hopefully has the chops to transition back into dramas for Stronger.
Gyllenhaal has two big films coming next. Everest tells the story about the 1996 Mount Everest disaster and Demolition is a drama directed by Dallas Buyers Club helmer Jean-Marc Vallee. The actor's Prince of Persia days are definitely behind him.
