FIFTY SHADES OF GREY Sequel Finds Its Director

The Fifty Shades of Grey sequel finally has a director. Variety reports that Universal Studios and franchise creator EL James have selected James Foley to helm Fifty Shades Darker.

This will be Foley's first film in awhile. The director was busy during the 1980s and 1990s, helming Glengarry Glenn Ross and The Chamber, but he really hasn't done many movies since then, instead sticking to directing episodes of House of Cards.

The Fifty Shades of Grey franchise lost director Sam Taylor-Johnson due to creative control issues with James. The author managed to retain a huge amount of control in the direction of the cinematic adaptions of her trilogy, which she has taken to an extreme by assigning writing duties for Fifty Shades Darker to her husband.

Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed are set to hit theaters on Feb. 14, 2017, and Feb. 9, 2018. Stars Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan will both be back.
