New Oscars Producers Want Two Hosts for 2016 Ceremony

The 2016 Oscars ceremony will have two hosts. That's extremely good news, as it means there's little chance Billy Crystal will back to host again ... unless this means we're getting two Billy Crystals ...

The new producing duo behind the upcoming Oscars, David Hill and Reginald Hudlin, chatted with Entertainment Weekly and shared their thoughts on award show.

"There will be multiple hosts for sure — there will be two," Hill told EW. "Two is better than one. Just imagine, you're in there. One of your hosts drops dead from cardiac arrest. What do you do? Second host goes on! And you keep going. … Note to self. Check out their heart rates."

An Oscars ceremony with two hosts isn't a new concept for the show. The Academy went with a hosting duo back-to-back with Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin in 2010 and James Franco and Anne Hathaway in 2011. While the Martin/Baldwin duo was harmless, the Franco/Hathaway duo is often cited as a low point in Oscars history.

EW's Anthony Breznican interestingly notes that if Hill and Hudlin are so eager to announce they're going to have two hosts for their ceremony, there's a good chance they already have a duo in mind. Breznican suggests that Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele or Tina Fey and Amy Poehler could be in the running for the 2016 Oscars hosting gigs.

As long as it's not two Billy Crystals ...
