Vincent Cassel Joins Next BOURNE Movie as a Villain

When they faced off in Ocean's Thirteen, Matt Damon's character got the better of Vincent Cassel's character. Cassel will get another shot at Damon soon, though, with Variety reporting that the actor has joined the upcoming Bourne sequel as one of the movie's villains.

Cassel will play an assassin tracking Damon's Jason Bourne, according to Variety. Of course, that's a pretty standard villain description for a Bourne movie. Damon recently gave Buzzfeed some inside info on what fans can expect from the next Bourne film.

"Without giving too much of it away, it's Bourne through an austerity-riddled Europe and in a post-[Edward Snowden] world," Damon told Buzzfeed. "It seems like enough has changed, you know? There are all these kinds of arguments about spying and civil liberties and the nature of democracy."

Curious to see how Cassel fits into that idea. Is he the Snowden? Is Jason Bourne the Snowden?

The actor joins Damon, Alicia Vikander, Tommy Lee Jones and Julia Stiles on the fifth Bourne film's cast. Paul Greengrass is returning to the franchise to direct. The next Bourne movie is set to hit theaters on July 29, 2016, pushing back the next Jeremy Renner Bourne film to an unannounced date.
