BOX OFFICE REPORT (NOV. 9-11): 'Skyfall' Sets a James Bond Opening Record with $87.8M

1. Skyfall (N)
$87.80 million ($90.0 million)
Wow. After tearing up global box office records the past few weeks, Skyfall finally hit American theaters and continued its amazing run. The latest James Bond film debuted to a bigger number than any of the previous 22 Bond films had, with it's $87.80 million topping Quantum of Solace's $67.53 million. Hopefully Skyfall's massive box office opening will spark the Academy's attention and earn the Bond film the Oscar nomination it deserves.

I'd like to think that Skyfall could hold onto the top spot at the box office next weekend, but with The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 2 opening, I don't have much hope. Prove me wrong, America. If you don't want to keep Skyfall at No. 1, at least put your money into Lincoln.

2. Wreck-It Ralph (1)
$33.06 million ($93.69 million)
Wreck-It Ralph only dropped 32 percent in its second weekend, quite respectable, especially with Skyfall dominating the box office. I still have to see Wreck-It Ralph, but from what I've seen and heard about the movie, I'm happy to see it's doing so well at the box office.

3. Flight (2)
$15.10 million ($47.78 million)
Budweiser may want Paramount to remove its beer from Flight, but the controversy didn't stop the movie from continuing to soar at the box office. Good word of mouth in addition to Denzel Washington's performance should allow Flight to continue to add to its box office total.

4. Argo (3)
$6.75 million ($85.71 million)
If you haven't seen Argo yet, what are you waiting for? Anyone who buys a ticket to the new Twilight movie this weekend should be required to also buy a ticket to Argo. It'll accomplish two things, helping a deserving film at the box office while also exposing Twihards to a real film.

5. Taken 2 (5)
$4.00 million ($131.29 million)
OK, let's start production on Taken 3. Taken 2 has managed to stay in the top five for six weeks now, something that not many movies have done this year.

Next week's predictions:
1. The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 2
2. Skyfall
3. Lincoln
4. Flight
5. Argo
