TRAILER: Does Disney Have Something Special (That's Not Pixar) with 'Wreck-It Ralph'?
Disney's animated films seem to fall into one of two categories these days. They're either not Pixar films so they're mediocre at best. Or, they're Pixar films so they're instant classics (except you, Cars 2). Bolt may be the main exception to this rule that I can think of, and that's because the Pixar guys did some serious reworking of that film.
With the release of the first trailer for Wreck-It Ralph, Disney is showing some signs of life. While the movie isn't traditional animation (which I would love to see make an epic comeback at Disney), it looks really good, and it's the first non-Pixar animated movie in a long time that I actually have hope for. You gotta love the Bad-anon meeting with all the classic video game villain cameos. Correct me if I'm wrong, but is that Tim Allen voicing Pac-Man's Clyde?
Disney actually moved Wreck-It Ralph up to Nov. 2, 2012, from March 22, 2013, and I have to think that bodes well for the movie. Movies usually get pushed back, and when that happens, it means more work is needed. The studio must have some confidence in Wreck-It Ralph to put it at the start of the Christmas movie season.
Count the number of fart jokes in this trailer, DreamWorks. Notice how there are none. That's how it's done.
