Matthew Vaughn Bails on 'X-Men: Days of Future Past,' Bryan Singer May Step In to Direct
OK, bad news/good news time. The bad news? Matthew Vaughn, the man who directed X-Men: First Class and was supposed to direct its sequel, X-Men: Days of Future Past, has decided to not direct said sequel. No word on why Vaughn is passing on this movie. The good news? Bryan Singer, director of X-Men and X2 (which is one of the top superhero movies of all time), appears to be the guy who'll now step in to direct.
Singer was already on board to produce X-Men: Days of Future Past would be an excellent choice. When Singer departed X-Men: The Last Stand and allowed Brett Ratner to direct instead, the X-Men film franchise began to fall apart. Everything Singer had built to that point was ruined, and it wasn't until Vaughn brought us X-Men: First Class that the franchise was righted. If X-Men: Days of Future Past is going to deal with time travel and possibly tie in members of the original X-Men trilogy, Singer should be the only choice to direct.
