David Fincher (and Jon Favreau Again) Comes Up as a Possible 'Star Wars: Episode VII' Director

When Star Wars: Episode VII was first announced, everyone started making wishlists of big-name directors to helm the project, with Steven Spielberg, Christopher Nolan and David Fincher finding themselves at the top of those wishlists. It seemed ridiculous to even think that an Oscar-caliber director like one of those guys would take on a Star Wars sequel, but it looks like Fincher himself might actually be interested in the job. From Deadline:
As much as I’ve heard the Vaughn rumor, I’ve also heard Jon Favreau is panting after this job, and even that David Fincher, who apparently worked for Lucas’s ILM in a menial job as a teen, might be game for one of these new films. Unfortunately, we are getting nothing out of Lucas Land on what they call speculation.
OK, so Fincher, the guy who brought us Seven, Fight Club and The Social Network, allegedly wants in on some action in that galaxay far, far away? Let him have it. I had no problem dismissing the ridiculous big-name director rumors when they seemed absurd, but if someone like Fincher has expressed interest, Disney and LucasFilm should go for it. What about Jon Favreau?

This isn't the first time Favreau's name has come up, with the Iron Man director previously addressing the possibility that he could be the man to follow George Lucas as Star Wars director. As we previously mentioned, Favreau already has connections to Star Wars, voicing a character in the Star Wars: Clone Wars animated series. I'd be cool with him directing Star Wars: Episode VII, but I'd take Fincher over Favreau.
