UGH. Disney Is Prepping a Sequel to Tim Burton's 'Alice in Wonderland'

Tim Burton's 2010 remake of Alice in Wonderland made a crap ton of money, but it was a dreadful, dreadful movie. I'm still not sure how I actually made it through the entire thing. Mia Wasikowska sleep-walked her way through it, Johnny Depp got sucked into playing another bizarre Burton character and Helena Bonham Carter made me want to gouge my eyes and ears out whenever she was on screen. The special effects appeared to be used for the sake of show, not the sake of story. Just an awful, awful movie.

But, it made over $1 billion worldwide, and Disney is now looking to return to that well. Linda Woolverton, a frequent Disney collaborator, has been brought on board to write an Alice in Wonderland sequel, according to a Variety report.

No word yet whether Burton and Depp will return for the sequel, but if I'm advising either person, I'd warn them to stay far, far away from each other. Burton and Depp have become too comfortable working with each other, and can no longer deliver quality movies as a team.
