Ty Burrell to Replace Christoph Waltz in 'Muppets' Sequel
Modern Family's Ty Burrell will replace Christoph Waltz as the lead in The Muppets 2, according to a Hollywood Reporter report. Waltz stepped down due to scheduling conflicts.
OK, this one makes a bit more sense. When the news broke that Waltz, best known for playing a Jew-hunting Nazi in Inglourious Basterds, would play the lead in the sequel to Jason Segel's The Muppets, the casting seemed just a bit off. Going from Segel to Waltz was a stretch. Burrell's goofy comedy seems much better suited for the Muppets.
While Segel won't be back for the sequel, James Bobin will be back as director and Nicholas Stoller will back to write.
